DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Treatment- an overview

Each case is unique but most commonly, patients undergoing the DRX9000 spinal decompression treatment start feeling better after the first couple of weeks. Some after the first couple of treatments. Others may not experience relief until the end of a spinal decompression program. Most patients will undergo 15-25 treatments over a period of 4-8 weeks.

When someone starts feeling better right away, they are more likely to achieve a favorable outcome. But just because someone gets off to a slow start, does’t mean the treatment will not help. In fact, soreness is fairly common in the beginning and it’s not uncommon to be sore all the way through the decompression therapy, but at the same time be getting better. After all, the treatment is physical.

DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Treatment

In a recent outcome study by T. Gionnis (submitted to the Journal of Musculoskeletal Medicine), 500 potential patients with back pain and pain radiating into the extremities were treated on the DRX 9000. With treatment success defined by a reduction of pain to 0 or 1 on the pain scale, the DRX 9000 treatment was successful for 86% of the 219 patients included in the study.

At our San Francisco Spinal Decompression Center we monitor how a patient feels (subjective data) and how a patient’s body is functioning (objective data) every day and direct the treatments accordingly.

About half way through cervical decompression therapy or lumbar decompression therapy we do a re-exam and decide whether or not specific core spinal exercises and stretches should be introduced. Some patients are not ready yet.

Some patients tell us they feel “looser” or they can move better, or sleep better, or they have more energy…stuff like that (in addition to less pain). We call these “signs of life” and they are a good thing.

Chronic back pain, chronic neck pain, sciatica, radiating arm pain, numbness, tingling are all signs and symptoms of nerve pressure that may be coming from disc bulges or herniated discs.

My advice: Stay the course and let the treatment unfold. Keep your appointments. Do your exercises, participate in the home care, eat an anti-inflammatory diet and give the DRX9000 spinal decompression treatment a chance.
